Delta Guber candidate Agbi dumps NNPP, joins PDP
The New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) candidate for governor in the recently concluded election in Delta State, Engr. Chief Goodnews Agbi, PhD, has officially resigned from the party for which he ran in the 2023 general election.
Agbi also announced his defection to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in front of his throngs of state-wide supporters.

The former NNPP governorship candidate, one of the most prominent opposition figures in the state, was a founding member of the PDP before defecting to the opposition several years ago.
In a resignation letter addressed to the national chairman of NNPP, the renowned educator-turned-politician stated that he was joining the PDP in order to bring genuine development to all areas of the state.
He stated that he was joining forces with Governor Sheriff Oborevwori’s PDP to consolidate Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa’s enviable achievements as governor of the state.
Agbi stated that now that elections have concluded, it is the responsibility of every patriotic Deltan to support Oborevwori’s administration in delivering on his campaign promises.

He stated that the era of using opposition to distract from government programmes and policies was over and vowed to rally other opposition figures in the state to join forces with Oborevwori in order to develop the state.
The former NNPP governorship candidate also urged Nigerians to unite against the mismanagement of the federal government led by the All Progressives Congress (APC).
He predicted that the 2027 general election, particularly in Delta, would be difficult and fiercely contested, as the APC’s ‘evil’ dancers are already practising their moves. Political stakeholders in the state must therefore join forces with the PDP to bury the APC by foiling all of their nefarious schemes.”
Agbi vowed to utilise his considerable experience to ensure that Delta remains a PDP-controlled state.
While congratulating Governor Oborevwori on his victory and successful inauguration, Engr. Agbi praised former Governor Okowa for selecting Oborevwori as his successor.
In addition, he lauded Okowa’s eight-year performance as governor and stated that Deltans will not soon forget him.
