Tragedy Strikes as Ghanaian Footballer Raphael Dwamena Passes Away During Match in Albania**
Former Ghanaian international footballer Raphael Dwamena has tragically passed away at the age of 28 during a match in the Albanian Super League. Dwamena was playing for FK Egnatia against Partizani when the unfortunate incident occurred in the 24th minute of the game.
A video of the incident, shared widely, captured the heartbreaking moment when the striker slumped on the field as both teams awaited a goal kick.
Players, officials, and medical staff rushed to his aid, and an ambulance quickly entered the pitch. Despite swift intervention, Dwamena was pronounced dead upon arrival at the hospital, as confirmed by the Albania Football Association (FSHF) in a statement.
“The FSHF expresses its deep shock over the tragedy that happened today in Egnatia-Partizani, where football player Raphael Dwamena lost his life,” the FSHF statement reads. “The FSHF expresses its deepest condolences to the Dwamena family and the Egnatia club for this great loss.”
Condolences have poured in from various quarters, with the Ghanaian Football Association taking the lead in offering solace to the family of the late footballer.
