This allegation was raised by Tony Okocha, the State APC Caretaker Committee Chairman, during a media briefing held in Port Harcourt on Thursday, April 4, 2024.

Okocha sounded the alarm following Governor Fubara’s recent address to members of the Nigerian Union of Local Government Employees (NULGE) at the Government House in Port Harcourt. The chairman expressed concern over the governor’s remarks, interpreting them as a call to arms and a display of disrespect towards President Bola Tinubu.

During his address, Governor Fubara made provocative statements, including a warning to his detractors that he would “surprise” them if dared, and he urged NULGE members to prepare for “fire for fire” in the next phase. Fubara emphasized that his adherence to a peace pact, initiated by President Tinubu and accepted by all stakeholders, was out of respect for the president.

The governor clarified that his immediate implementation of the agreement was not a constitutional mandate but a political solution to the crisis in the state, undertaken out of respect for President Tinubu. However, he hinted at potential repercussions if his actions were misconstrued as a sign of weakness.
