Sanwo Olu had fervently urged the Supreme Court to reject the appeals challenging his triumph in the . The challengers, including Rhodes-Vivour and the Peoples Democratic Party with its candidate Abdulazeez Adediran, sought to contest the legitimacy of Sanwo-Olu’s victory.

The Labour Party had pressed the apex court to declare the March 18 election as flawed, citing irregularities and non-compliance with the Electoral Act. Additionally, they questioned the eligibility of Deputy Governor Obafemi Hamzat to participate in the election.

Abdulazeez Adediran, backed by the Peoples Democratic Party, presented 34 grounds of appeal, urging the Supreme Court to overturn the decisions of both the Lagos State Governorship Election Tribunal and the Court of Appeal.

In response, Sanwo Olu’s legal representative, Nas Ogunsakin, asserted in court that the applicants failed to substantiate their claims with concrete evidence. He argued that the witnesses brought forward were deemed incompetent.
