Alleged cultists gang-rape Rivers pastor’s wife to death
Mrs. Chigbewejim Steward, a mother of two, was gang-raped to death in her community of Abarikpo, Ahoada East Local Government Area, Rivers State, by suspected members of a feared cult group.
The alleged Iceland cult members allegedly kidnapped the woman and wife of a pastor in the early hours of Sunday, and a few hours later, they allegedly gang-raped and murdered her.

It was determined that her lifeless body was discovered in the community at approximately 10 a.m. with multiple injuries and blood stains in her private areas.
Pastor Lawyer Steward, the deceased’s husband, confirmed the incident to the media, stating that he was informed that a known cultist accused his wife of always gossiping about him.
“I am the husband of Chigbejim, who was murdered yesterday by a group of boys,” stated Steward. After committing a sexual assault on her, they murdered her.
When asked if he had issues with anyone prior to the incident, the cleric stated that he was neither a member of a cult nor had problems with anyone.

“I am an Assistant Pastor in charge of Evangelism at the Seventh Day Adventist Church in Abarikpo; I am not a cultist.” Everyone in my community is aware that I am not a cult member.
“She gave birth to three children, one of whom was born prematurely. My daughter is seven years old, while my son is three years old.

“One boy, Sunday, a member of a cult, claimed he murdered my wife because she spread rumors and spoke ill of him. People told him that my wife always spoke negatively about him.
“This is the motive for her murder. “He is a cultist,” the distressed man said. Sunday evening, the Ahoada Division Police Officer visited the crime scene, he disclosed.
Steward urged the government and law enforcement agencies to apprehend the perpetrators and bring them to justice.
“I am asking the government for assistance in locating the boys who abducted, raped, and murdered my wife.
“Let the government and police assist in arresting them and making them pay for what they did to my wife,” the religious leader said.
