Abdullahi Mustapha Appointed as Director-General of Energy Commission of Nigeria.

President Bola Tinubu has announced the appointment of Abdullahi Mustapha as the Director-General and Chief Executive Officer of the Energy Commission of Nigeria (ECN). This appointment was revealed by Ajuri Ngelale, the Special Adviser to the President on Media & Publicity.

Abdullahi Mustapha brings a wealth of experience to his new role, having served for over a decade in the Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission, where he gained significant expertise in the Energy and Space Technology sectors.

Notably, Mustapha recently earned his Doctorate degree in Mechanical Engineering, with a specific focus on Renewable Energy. Following this, he undertook a Post-Doctoral Fellowship as a Research Associate in the School of Engineering at the esteemed University of Manchester in England.

President Tinubu expressed his expectations for the new Chief Executive of the ECN. He anticipates that Abdullahi Mustapha will play a vital role in the administration’s efforts to diversify the nation’s energy sources in a coordinated manner across the government. The ultimate goal is to industrialize every part of the country and free every citizen from the constraints of energy poverty.
