Labour Party Criticizes President Tinubu New Year Speech, Labels it as Hollow and Deceitful.
The Labour Party (LP) has strongly condemned President Bola Tinubu’s New Year speech, describing it as a manifestation of dishonesty and a disregard for the concerns of Nigerians.
In a statement issued on Monday, Obiora Ifoh, the national publicity secretary of the LP, expressed the party’s dismay, stating, “the party, like most right-thinking Nigerians, is appalled by the hollowness of the New Year Speech by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to Nigerians.

The statement highlighted the perceived hypocrisy, deceit, and lack of empathy displayed in the speech, attributing these qualities to the guiding principles of the All Progressives Congress (APC) administration led by Tinubu.
The LP criticized the president for not addressing critical issues such as the Christmas Eve massacre in Plateau State, where over 200 people lost their lives to terrorist attacks. The party expressed disappointment that there was no word of comfort for the affected families.
The statement further questioned Tinubu’s assertion that every decision made since assuming office was in the best interest of the country.

The LP pointed to the ill-advised decision to remove fuel subsidy without a clear plan to alleviate the suffering of Nigerians, as well as the alleged massive looting of the nation’s resources.
The LP urged the National Assembly to rise above party lines and ensure the upholding of the constitution amid the challenges faced by the nation.
