N13.5 Billion Allocation for Tinubu and Shettima’s Official Quarters Renovation Amidst Economic Challenges.
The Federal Government is set to allocate approximately N13.5 billion for the renovation of the official quarters of President Bola Tinubu and his deputy, Kashim Shettima in Abuja and Lagos. This allocation is part of the supplementary budget submitted by President Bola Tinubu to the National Assembly for approval.

The Minister of Budget and National Planning, Atiku Bagudu, announced the intention to request more than N2 trillion for the 2023 supplemental budget, representing a 9.16% increase from the N21.83 trillion 2023 Appropriations Bill. This supplemental budget would be the largest in Nigeria’s history.
The breakdown of the renovation expenses includes over N4 billion for President Tinubu’s official mansion in Abuja, about N2.5 billion for the vice president’s official residence in Abuja, and approximately N4 billion for the renovation of President Tinubu’s official residence in Lagos, known as the Dodan Barracks. Additionally, the official residence of the Vice President in Lagos is allocated about N4 billion for renovation.
These allocations have generated significant reactions, particularly as many Nigerians are grappling with the consequences of the removal of petrol subsidies, leading to a significant increase in fuel prices.
