Tragedy at Araromi Ilogbo Secondary School: Student Allegedly Flogged to Death
In a shocking incident at Araromi Ilogbo Secondary School in Oko Afo, Lagos, a 16-year-old student, David Babadipo, has reportedly lost his life after being allegedly flogged by a teacher named Oluwale. The tragic event unfolded on Thursday, sparking protests among students at the school.
According to eyewitnesses, pandemonium erupted as news of Babadipo’s demise spread, leading to chaotic scenes both within the school compound and its surroundings. A video captured the intensity of the situation, showing students running helter-skelter.
The deceased, who had been unwell for several days, was allegedly subjected to corporal punishment by the teacher. Following the flogging, he was swiftly rushed to a hospital but, sadly, was confirmed dead.

Social Media Users Responded To Incident Involving Student Flogged to Death
Social media amplified the incident, with users expressing outrage and concern. One user, Mama Sassy D, commented on the video, stating,
“This is my vicinity. They have started rioting already. The said teacher might not survive this period.”
However, conflicting accounts emerged on Facebook, with Esther Wusu disputing the claim that the pupil was flogged to death. Wusu clarified that Mr Oluwale was the school’s vice principal and argued that the student had been unwell since Tuesday.
She further claimed that the parent did not take the child to the hospital, and the situation worsened after the break on Thursday.
Another Facebook user, Bangose Jide, shared a post asserting,
“Teacher beat David Babadipo, 16-year-old to death at Araromi-Ilogbo Senior Secondary School, Oko-Afo.”
The post indicated that the case had been reported to the Morogbo Police Station at Badagry Expressway, Lagos State.
