On Thursday, the Association of Resident Doctors (ARD) at the University College Hospital (UCH) in Ibadan initiated a three-week industrial action.

The President of ARD-UCH, Dr. Abiodun Ogundipe, explained to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Ibadan that the reason behind the action was to request the inclusion of their fellow doctors on the government’s payment platform.

At 8 am on Thursday, a strike was initiated to draw the government’s attention to the predicament of 250 members in the association.

The strike is expected to last for three weeks, with the hope that a resolution will be reached during this period. Additionally, there are other national welfare issues that need the government’s attention, and a meeting is scheduled for the following day (Friday) to discuss and assess them.

The Federal Government has previously been given a two-week ultimatum to address various welfare concerns and lingering matters that need urgent attention.
