Former Rivers State Governor Issues Warning to Successor Amidst Political Strife
In a tense confrontation during a book presentation at Rivers State University on Friday, the former Rivers State governor and current FCT minister, Nyesom Wike, sternly warned his successor, Sim Fubara, against undermining the political structure that brought him into power.
The warning came in the midst of a recent crisis that rocked the Rivers State House of Assembly, adding an extra layer of complexity to the already strained relationship between Wike and Fubara.

During his address, Wike didn’t mince words, cautioning Fubara that he possessed the capability to paralyze governance in the state with impunity.
“If I say there will be problems, there will be. Don’t be deceived. I don’t need to win, but I need you to suffer; you can’t sleep. People will hold you responsible for non-performance. I have finished my own eight years,” Wike asserted.
Drawing on his past experiences, Wike reminded the audience of his confrontations with the former governor, emphasizing the repercussions of going against a political structure.

“If you are part of a political structure and you are going against the structure, the structure will call you to order,” he declared.
Downplaying the idea of resorting to legal avenues, Wike dismissed the notion of rushing to court, asserting that everyone involved had the capacity to do so.
He concluded by hinting at future responses, stating, “I will reply everybody at the appropriate time.”
