The 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers for the Super Eagles are set to proceed without Wilfred Ndidi.
Wilfred Ndidi, who has missed Leicester City’s last two matches due to a muscle injury, is unlikely to participate in these crucial fixtures.
Manager Enzo Maresca disclosed before their recent Sky Bet Championship encounter against Leeds United that Ndidi would only return after the upcoming international break, potentially ruling him out of the World Cup qualifiers. Maresca stated, “Wilf will be out until the international break. It is also a muscular problem.” He added, “It’s a small thing, but when the problem is muscular, even if it’s small, it’s always one or two weeks because we don’t want to take any risks.”

Wilfred Ndidi, Victor Osimhen, And Two Others Injured
Wilfred Ndidi’s last appearance for the Super Eagles was in an international student-friendly against Mozambique the previous month. Unfortunately, Nigeria will also be without Victor Osimhen for both games, and there are injury concerns surrounding Semi Ajayi and Bruno Onyemaechi for the opening two matches of the qualifiers.
Jose Peseiro’s team will face Lesotho’s Crocodiles at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium, Uyo, on Thursday, November 17. They will then travel to Zimbabwe for a matchday two fixture scheduled at the Huye Stadium in Rwanda.
