Ikpeazu dissolves Abia council chairmen, deputies, councillors
Abia State’s Governor Okezie Ikpeazu has issued an order that will immediately result in the removal of all 17 Local Government Area Chairmen, along with their Deputies and Councillors.
According to a statement that was signed by Chris Ezem, who is the Secretary to the State Government, this occurred after the conclusion of their term in office.

Officers of the disbanded Council were put up for election in December 2020 for a new term that will last for two years.
Gov. Ikpeazu expressed his gratitude to them for their service and wished them success in all of their endeavours moving forward.

In addition, the Governor ordered that they turn over responsibility to the Head of Service of their respective Councils.
