Former President Goodluck Jonathan told Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s (LP) presidential candidate, that the next president must unite the country.
The statement was made by President Jonathan on Friday when Obi visited him at his home in Bayelsa State.

Obi was in the state to solicit support from the citizens ahead of the presidential election of 2023.
The former president also stated that Nigerians must believe in the nation’s unity to advance.
On his verified Twitter account, he wrote, “Today, I welcomed members of the Presidential Campaign Council of @NgLabour, led by its presidential candidate, Mr. Peter Obi.

“I emphasised that to move Nigeria forward, we must all view it as our own country and believe in the nation’s unity.
“The next president must strive to unite the country.
“I also emphasised the importance of credible elections and urged the Labour Party and all other parties and their supporters to conduct peaceful campaigns.”
