Wike reveals two reasons why ‘structureless’ Peter Obi scored over 6m votes

 

Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State stated on Monday that Peter Obi, the presidential candidate of the Labour Party, received over 6 million votes, trailing Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), and president-elect, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, because Igbos desire the presidency and because he was the youngest of the four frontrunners.

Wike stated on Channels Television’s Sunrise Daily programme, which was monitored by Ejes Gist News Nigeria, that Obi’s electoral success was not necessarily the result of his alleged integrity.

In the run-up to the 2023 presidential election, the former governor of Anambra State ran on a platform that was not among the top two major parties in Nigeria and was mocked as “structureless.” However, he unexpectedly won in states such as Lagos, Plateau, and Nasarawa, garnering more votes than the opposition anticipated.

“Initially, it was the belief that the presidency should reside in the Southeast.

 

“Secondly, some individuals desired a younger candidate,” Wike stated.

 

Meanwhile, Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State stated on Monday that he will not be concerned if his successor, Siminialayi Fubara, turns against him because Fubara serves the state and not him.

Wike stated on Channels Television’s Sunrise Daily programme, which was monitored by Ejes Gist News Nigeria that he will not hold a grudge against the incoming Rivers governor if he disregards his advice.

“He does not exist to serve me. We exist to serve the populace. The issue for leaders is that you supported someone for office; did your actions help him succeed or fail?

 

“You want him to come to your residence to take orders? Once you have left office, you respect yourself and say, “I’ve done my part.” It is acceptable if he wants my advice, and it is acceptable if he does not.
