Gunmen Kill Police Officer Attached To Delta State Government House

 

Gunmen have fatally shot a police officer assigned to the Counter Terrorism Unit at the Delta State Government House in Asaba.

“It is unfortunate that Solomon died during the mission. Solomon was among the police officers who escaped last February’s attack on Governor Okowa’s entourage by unidentified assailants.

 

SP Grace Iringe-Koko, a spokesperson for the Rivers State Police Command, confirmed the incident and stated that the convoy encountered the gunmen while they were operating.

In a related development, A truck from the Dangote Cement Factory has killed a police officer in Ogun State at the Saiten Petrol Station end of the Abeokuta-Lagos Motorway.

She reported that five people sustained injuries of varying severity in Tuesday night’s collision.

She stated that nine vehicles were involved in the collision, including a Dangote truck, a tipper, a yellow bus, an armoured tank, a Toyota RAV4, and three motorcycles.

Noting that eight victims, including seven adult males and one adult female, were involved in the collision, Okpe stated that one person perished and two were rescued unharmed.

She explained that the accident occurred when the driver of the Dangote truck, who was driving at top speed and attempting to pass another vehicle, lost control, collided with other vehicles, and then plunged into the river.

 

Okpe stated that the collision caused the Toyota RAV4 to burst into flames, and that the blaze was extinguished using a fire extinguisher obtained from a nearby petrol station.

 

“The injured victims were transported to the Ota General Hospital for medical care.” One person identified as a police officer on duty was injured and transported to the hospital by the FRSC rescue team, but later died, according to the statement.
