FCT minister, Nyesom Wike Revokes 165 Plots of Land.
The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister, Nyesom Wike, in a significant move aimed at reclaiming undeveloped plots of land in highbrow districts of Abuja, has announced the revocation of 165 plots of land in the nation’s capital.
This decision was taken due to the continued non-development of these plots by their respective allottees.

The affected areas include Maitama, Gudu, Wuye, Katampe, Katampe Extension, Wuse 2, Jabi, Utako, Idu Industrial zone, and Asokoro. Among these, the highest number of revocations, totaling 41 plots, occurred in Maitama. The second-highest number, 39 plots, were revoked in Katampe, Katampe Extension, Wuse 2, Jabi, Utako, Idu Industrial zone, and Asokoro.

The notice of revocation, issued by the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA), stated, “The Federal Capital Territory Administration FCTA hereby informs the general public that the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory has, in the exercise of the powers conferred on him under Section 28(5)(a) & (b) of the Land Use Act 1978, revoked the underlisted plots with names and titles as reflected in our records for continued contravention of the terms of development of the Right of Occupancy to wit non-development.” This notice was signed by the Permanent Secretary, Mr. Olusade Adesola.

Notable names among the allottees of the revoked plots include Liyel Imoke, Musa Aboki Egu, Hassan Hadejia, Ishaya Baba, Sam Nda-Isaiah, Donubari Josephine Kogbara, Peter Gregory Obi, BUA international, Julius Berger Nigeria, Honeywell Construction, Uffot Joseph Ekaette, Shittu Mohammed, Udoma Udo Udoma, Kanu Agabi, Niki Niki Tobi, Ishaku Bello, and others.

Wike, upon assuming office, made a commitment to restore the master plan of the Federal Capital Territory and take action against plots that had remained undeveloped or whose ground rents had not been paid for an extended period. As a result, he provided a two-week grace period for allottees to settle their ground rents, warning of plot revocations for non-compliance.
This move by the FCT Minister is seen as a step towards revitalizing the development of Abuja and ensuring that allocated lands are put to productive use, consistent with the city’s master plan.
