Two Nigerians Appointed to Biden’s Advisory Council.

The President of the United States, Joe Biden, has appointed two distinguished Nigerians, Osagie Imasogie and Chineye Ogwumike, to the 12-member Advisory Council on African Diaspora Engagement in the United States. This announcement was made through a statement released by the State House.

The 12-member council, which will be chaired by Silvester Scott Beaman, includes accomplished individuals such as Mimi E. Alemayehou, Rosalind Brewer, Viola Davis, Helene D. Gayle, Patrick Hubert Gaspard, C.D. Glin, Osagie Imasogie, Almaz Negash, Chinenye Joy Ogwumike, Ham K. Serunjogi, and Kevin Young.

Hon. Abike Dabiri-Erewa, Chairman/CEO of the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NIDCOM), extended her heartfelt congratulations to Osagie Imasogie and Chineye Ogwumike on their appointments. Chineye Ogwumike, a two-time WNBA All-Star for the Los Angeles Sparks and a full-time ESPN commentator and NBA analyst, brings her exceptional sports background and media expertise to the council. She is recognized as one of the few full-time professional athletes simultaneously holding a full-time regular national sports media broadcast position.

Osagie Imasogie, Chairman of the Investment Bank and SEC/FINRA registered Broker-Dealer, Quoin Capital, as well as the co-founder of PIPV Capital, a private equity firm focused on the life sciences industry, brings a wealth of financial and entrepreneurial experience to the council.

Imasogie’s career includes senior positions in pharmaceutical companies such as GlaxoSmithKline and extensive involvement in financial institutions and advisory roles. He serves on the boards of several financial institutions and holds advisory positions in prominent firms.

These appointments highlight the significant contributions of Nigerians and Africans in the diaspora to various fields and underscore the importance of their engagement in shaping policies and initiatives on a global scale.
