The allegations against the immediate past deputy governor have raised concerns, leading to the Commissioner of Police submitting an application for a bench warrant to ensure Ajayi’s appearance before the court to address these serious charges.

The court, upon reviewing the application, has ordered that Agboola Ajayi must either be produced in court or provide a statement regarding the accusations on November 24, 2023.

This development follows the arraignment of two former aides of Agboola Ajayi, Ogunmusi Samuel and Akintoye Olatunji, who have been implicated in the case related to the car allegedly taken from one Segun Adetuwo, popularly known as Showboy.

According to Samuel’s statement, he claimed that the former deputy governor instructed him to accompany Olatunji to collect the car from Adetuwo. However, he also admitted to leaving with the black-colored Toyota Camry XLE without making any payment for the vehicle.

During the proceedings, the prosecutor, Emmanuel Tanimowo, informed the court that Agboola Ajayi had failed to respond to the invitation to present his side of the incident, prompting this legal action.

Barrister Omolegbon Odunsola, the counsel to Akintoye, stated that he had been actively attempting to contact Agboola and Adetuwo to explore the possibility of settling the matter outside of court.

In response, Alex Olademehin, representing Adetuwo, explained that Agboola insisted on either providing a written statement to the police or appearing in person before the court.

Presiding Magistrate Taiwo Lebi has issued an order that Agboola Ajayi or his statement must be brought to court on the next adjournment date, which is set for November 24, 2023.

This development marks a significant turn of events in the legal proceedings against the former deputy governor, and further hearings will shed light on the truth behind these allegations.
