Obi emphasized that it is President Bola Tinubu’s moral duty to “personally” clarify the circumstances surrounding his Chicago State University credentials to the Nigerian public.

The former governor of Anambra state made these statements on Tuesday in Kano, shortly after paying tribute to the late former Minister of Internal Affairs during the Second Republic, Alhaji Bello Yusuf Maitama.
He went on to assert that leaders who choose to serve the country must earn the trust of the public and adhere to the rule of law as prescribed by the nation’s constitution.

Obi underscored the importance of character, integrity, and trust in the country’s leaders when building a nation, stating, “Leaders must earn public trust, and if you choose to serve the public, you must always avail yourself to explain to the public when issues of dispute arise, and you must do so personally. You can’t outsource it because it is about you, and it is you that people voted for.”
Recently, Obi had issued a challenge to Tinubu to reintroduce himself to the nation to alleviate doubts that have arisen in the midst of these allegations.

He noted that the controversy surrounding the President had led uninformed outsiders to view every Nigerian as a potential fraudster, forger, or identity thief, a perception he deemed unnecessary.
