A horrific incident unfolded in the Rigasa area of Kaduna as a petrol tanker explosion left no fewer than 20 people with various degrees of injuries.

Among the injured are five federal firefighters, personnel from the Kaduna Vigilance Service, and passers-by, according to Paul Aboi, Director of the Kaduna State Fire Service.

The incident occurred while the tanker was offloading petrol at a local petrol station on Wednesday. The injured firefighters are currently receiving treatment at the Barau Dikko Specialist Hospital in Kaduna.

 

Mr. Aboi pointed to negligence on the part of the filling station as a major factor in the incident, emphasizing that such offloading activities should not have been conducted in the afternoon.
