Urges Nigerians to Accept Supreme Court’s Verdict on 2023 Presidential Election.

 

Former senator and People’s Democratic Party (PDP) member, Ben Murray-Bruce, has expressed his views on the reactions of some aggrieved Nigerians following the Supreme Court’s judgment on the 2023 presidential election.

The Supreme Court recently dismissed cases brought against President ’s election by Atiku Abubakar (PDP) and Peter Obi (Labour Party).

This verdict led to mixed reactions on social media, with some prominent Nigerians, including rights activist Aisha Yesufu, publicly stating that Tinubu was not their president.

In response to the diverse opinions, Ben Murray-Bruce took to Twitter on Thursday to emphasize that President Tinubu is the leader of all Nigerians, regardless of their political affiliations.

He stated, “As long as you call yourself a citizen of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, you do not have ‘your’ President. Nigeria has a President, and whether you like it or not, he presides over you as Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces and Head of the State.

Furthermore, Murray-Bruce urged Atiku to congratulate President Tinubu, highlighting the need for unity within the PDP as they prepare for the 2027 elections. He emphasized the importance of ending litigation and called statements like “Bola Tinubu is not my President” frivolous and unhelpful.

Murray-Bruce also reminded the PDP of the consequences of disunity, referring to past elections, and encouraged the party to unite as a strong opposition force in Nigeria. He concluded by addressing the youth, advising them not to be manipulated against the government and to prepare for the 2027 elections.

Ben Murray-Bruce, who served as a senator from June 2015 to June 2019, has been an active figure in Nigerian politics and continues to share his perspectives on current issues in the country.
