The Appeal Court has sacked the APC lawmaker who was declared the winner by the Election Tribunal.

 

The Lagos Division of the Court of Appeal has reversed the verdict of the National Assembly Election Petitions Tribunal in Umuahia. This decision pertains to the election of the representative for the Isikwuato Umunneochi Federal Constituency in Abia State, Honourable Amobi Ogah.

Back in September, the tribunal had invalidated Ogah’s election, instead declaring the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, and the current Minister of State for Labour, Nkiruka Onyejeocha, as the victor in the election.

In response to this ruling, Ogah took his case to the Court of Appeal to challenge the tribunal’s decision.

Today, the Appeal Court delivered its judgment, effectively overturning the tribunal’s decision.

The appellate court, in its judgment, deemed the appeal of the Labour Party candidate as meritorious and, as a result, set aside the previous ruling of the lower court.

This development marks a significant victory for Ogah, who has successfully regained his seat representing the Isikwuato Umunneochi Federal Constituency in the Abia State House of Representatives.
