Chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ondo State, Bola Ilori, paid a condolence visit to the Olowo of Owo, Oba Ajibade Gbadegesin Ogunoye III, expressing heartfelt condolences over the passing of former Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu (SAN). Ilori lauded the late Akeredolu as a bold and courageous leader who utilized legal means to protect and secure his people.
“Aketi was a fearless politician who spoke truth to power, especially during difficult and critical times that most politicians find inconvenient,” remarked Ilori during the visit.
Ilori took the opportunity to commend Oba Ogunoye, describing him as a progressive and unique monarch who leveraged the traditional institution to support progressive ideals, particularly in the realm of security. He acknowledged Oba Ogunoye’s principled stance against the June 2022 Owo massacre and his influence in the creation of the Southwest Nigeria Security Network, codenamed Amotekun Operation.

“Oba Ogunoye’s input and influence in the creation of the Southwest Nigeria Security Network will forever remain indelible in the hearts of the people,” stated Ilori.
During the visit, Ilori sought the Oba’s support for the new Governor, Hon Lucky Ayedatiwa, and emphasized the need for backing President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the APC in general.
In response, Oba Ogunoye expressed gratitude for the thoughtful and heartwarming visit, acknowledging Ilori as an outstanding politician dedicated to human, environmental, and societal progress in Western Nigeria. The monarch assured Ilori of Owo’s continued support for Governor Lucky Ayedatiwa and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

The visit included notable figures such as Chief Jamiu Ekungba, an APC National Board of Trustee Member, and Mr. Akintunde Temitope, former APC Ondo East Local Government Chairman, among others.
As the entourage concluded the visit, Oba Ogunoye offered prayers for continued divine guidance and protection in Ilori’s life. The event showcased a unity of purpose in the pursuit of political ideals and commemorated the legacy of the late Governor Akeredolu.
