Suspected assassins murder Imo Assembly Labour Party candidate, Christopher Elehu
Christopher Elehu, a Labour Party candidate for the Onuimo Local Government Area in the Imo State House of Assembly, was killed on Friday by gunmen who are thought to be hired assassins.
Along with killing him, the shooters burned down his rural home and stole his belongings, including a motorcycle.

According to information gathered by our correspondent, the suspects opened fire for more than two hours in the early hours of Friday.
According to reports, the gunmen who were on the rampage also paid visits to the homes of other local politicians, but they were greeted by their absence.
They have killed Christopher Elehu, better known by his stage name Wasco, according to a source who prefers not to be named.
He ran for the Labour Party in the Onuimo Local Government Area up until his death. After everyone had gone to bed, they broke into his home and opened fire for more than two hours.
“They burned the man’s home and killed him. They also ruined his belongings. When the villagers gathered in the morning, his body was on the ground with matchet cuts.

The politician was assassinated just ten days after Chukwunonye Irouno, the LP candidate in Okigwe, a sister LGA, passed away unexpectedly.
Irouno, who was scheduled to lead LP’s presidential campaign event in the state, slouched one evening before the event. He was taken to the Federal Medical Center in Owerri and later declared dead.
The state’s police had not yet released a statement regarding the murder incident.
