Gunmen kill five police officers, couple in Imo ambush
On Friday morning, unidentified gunmen ambushed police officers at the Okpala junction in the Ngor Okpala Local Government Area of Imo State.
Mr. and Mrs. Chinaka Nwagu, from the Amankwo Okpala community, were also killed, according to information gathered by Ejes Gist News Nigeria from a reliable source who requested anonymity.

According to the source, all business activity in the neighbourhood has ceased as a result of the tragedy.
According to him, the deceased officers came from the nearby Abo Mbaise police division to dine at the intersection.
He claimed that armed men arrived on the scene and opened fire on the officer while he was eating.
He claimed that while three police officers were killed at the scene, two others who fled were killed along with a couple who sought refuge in a nearby store.
“The couple owned the store.”
“After killing the police officers, the attackers stole five rifles.”

“This is very unfortunate. Our community is in pain. Everyone is confused. Prior to a year ago, the couple left Lagos. The market has shut down. People are fleeing out of shock and panic. “I can’t believe it!” he exclaimed.
Emeka Ndukwu, a community source who claims to have driven along the Owerri-Aba Road, reported seeing the dead bodies of the police officers.
Ndukwu commented, “This is terrible. The bodies of five police officers were on the road as we passed by. At the intersection, their Hilux was parked as well. It was a horrible scene. This is terrible. God have mercy”
Henry Okoye, spokesman for the State Police Command, said he had not yet received a briefing on the murder but promised to update our correspondent once he did.
