Tinubu Hosts Senate Leadership, Vows to Combat Threats Against Military After Killings of Soldiers in Delta 

President Bola Tinubu has vowed that his administration will not stand idly by when soldiers are attacked and killed. While hosting the leadership of the Senate, Tinubu promised to deliver “certain justice” to the perpetrators behind the killing of 16 soldiers in Delta State.

The president emphasised the Nigerian military’s significant role in combating the country’s security challenges and assured continued support from his administration.

Aso Rock, Abuja – President Bola Tinubu has declared that those responsible for the deaths of Nigerian soldiers in Delta State will face “certain justice,” expressing his administration’s strong condemnation of attacks on military and security forces.

The president made these remarks while welcoming the Senate’s leadership to the breaking of the Ramadan fast at the State House on Thursday evening, March 21. He further stated his government’s commitment to bolstering the military’s efforts to neutralize security threats across the nation.

The reason behind hosting senators was clarified in a statement released by Tinubu’s special adviser on media and publicity, which was shared by his special assistant on public engagement, Fredrick Nwabufo, on Friday morning. Tinubu expressed gratitude towards the Senate’s leadership for their cooperation thus far.

The statement highlighted: “Our armed forces are exerting tremendous effort, and we will not permit attackers to compromise the integrity and esteem of our armed forces and its leadership. We will persist in fostering and safeguarding our sovereignty, our individual rights, and we are determined to eradicate poverty from our land.”

Following the president’s remarks, the Army has reiterated its commitment to locating and apprehending the assailants responsible for the deaths of sixteen soldiers in the Okuama community, Ughelli South Local Government Area of Delta State.

The Nigerian Army has assured that their operations in the Delta creeks, aimed at capturing the soldiers’ killers, will adhere to the highest standards of international practice concerning human rights.

An earlier report by Ejes Gist News detailed how unidentified gunmen ambushed soldiers in the Okuama community, resulting in multiple fatalities.

The military high command confirmed these events on Saturday, March 16. Major General Tukur Gusau, the director of defence information, disclosed that the troops were encircled and attacked by armed community youths in Bomadi LGA of Delta State, leading to their deaths.
