The West African Examinations Council, Nigeria, has announced the availability of the second series of the West African Senior School Certificate Examination, WASSCE, for private candidates in 2022.

Recall that the second series of WASSCE 2022 for private candidates was administered in Nigeria from Monday, October 31 to Thursday, December 15, with 3,393 examiners participating in the coordination and marking exercise at seven traditional marking venues and one e-marking centres across the country.

In a statement by the Head of National Office, WAEC Yaba, Mr. Patrick Areghan, and issued by the public affairs department, the body noted that out of a total of seventy-three thousand, four hundred and twenty-four candidates who sat for the examination, a total of seventy-two thousand, two hundred and sixty candidates, representing 98.42 percent, have had their results fully processed and released.
A portion of the statement read: “Seventy-seven thousand, seven hundred and sixty-eight, candidates representing a 31.88% increase compared to the 2021 entry figure entered the examination, while seventy-three thousand, four hundred and twenty-four, candidates sat the examination at six hundred and thirty-eight, centres spread across the country.”

Seventy-two thousand, two hundred sixty-five candidates, 98.42% of the total number of candidates who took the examination, have had their results fully processed and released. In contrast, a few of the subjects for 1,159 candidates, 1.58 percent, are still being evaluated due to errors made by the candidates. However, efforts are being made to finish processing so that all affected candidates can receive their complete results.

42,405, 57.75% of candidates, earned a grade of credit or higher in at least five (5) subjects, with or without English language and/or mathematics;
Thirty-nine thousand and fifty-four candidates, or 42.16 percent, earned a passing grade in at least five (5) subjects, including English Language and Mathematics.
