The crisis erupted after Adeleke’s appointment of Ajiboye on January 3, 2024, during a State Executive meeting, despite ongoing court proceedings and restraining orders. Dr. Femi Fasanya, the head of kingmakers, disavowed the installation process of Oba Johnson Ajiboye in January 2024.

In a petition addressed to the Osun Police Command dated April 10, 2024, Kolawole Sangoniran of the Olugbode family expressed concerns over potential anarchy, alleging that the deposed king planned to confer chieftaincy titles at the Olola of Ola’s palace. He urged authorities to prevent disobedience to court orders to avoid a breakdown of law and order.
