Uzodinma highlighted that his administration has laid a solid foundation for growth across various sectors of the economy, vowing to build on these achievements to lead Imo into a prosperous, industrial, and secure future.
The governor announced his selection of Chinyere Ihuoma Ekomaru as his female deputy governorship candidate, emphasizing her potential to bring added value to their ticket. He hoped that the Imo women would appreciate the gesture as a recognition of their vital role in the state’s development.
Reason for picking Chinyere Ekomaru
Hope Uzodinma clarified that the decision to choose Ekomaru was a product of an inclusive process, urging all parties involved to accept and embrace this choice.
The governor acknowledged his outgoing Deputy, Placid Njoku, expressing his satisfaction with their collaborative efforts and affirming Njoku’s continued relevance in the political landscape.
Uzodinma proudly declared that his administration has fulfilled the social contract he entered into with the people of Imo upon assuming office. He highlighted the improved security situation, recovery of institutions, infrastructure development, educational reforms, and the growth of industries within the state.
Looking ahead, the governor assured the state of ongoing projects, including road constructions and educational and healthcare reforms. He also outlined plans for further economic rejuvenation through initiatives like the Oguta-Orashi-Degema River dredging project.
Macdonald Ebere, the state APC Chairman, praised the accomplishments of Uzodinma’s administration and emphasized the party’s readiness to capitalize on these achievements for continued success.
In her acceptance speech, Mrs. Ekomaru expressed gratitude for being chosen as the running mate and pledged to uphold the trust placed in her. With over 40 years of political experience, she identified herself with various influential groups, expressing confidence in winning support from the Anglican Communion, academia, social groups, the judiciary, the health sector, and women’s associations.
Governor Uzodinma’s speech and the unveiling of Chinyere Ekomaru have set the stage for the upcoming governorship election, as the APC aims to secure the mandate of the people for another term of governance.
