Wike opens up on ‘sending’ thugs to attack Atiku’s supporters
The governor of Rivers State, Nyesom Wike, has called the claim made by the state’s director-general of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Presidential Campaign Council (PCC) and a former minister of transportation, Abiye Sekibo, and a few of his associates, that the state government recently dispatched thugs to attack them, ludicrous and cheap blackmail.
At a special dedication service for the Rivers State PDP 2023 General Election Campaign Rallies held at St. Paul’s Anglican Church in Port Harcourt on Sunday, Governor Wike gave a speech.

Some claim that we sent thugs to assault them. People start making excuses when they perceive failure, Wike said.
“These are individuals who are aware of our backgrounds and the methods by which we have been elected to our various local governments.
“I recall that one of them was unable to visit his local government during the most recent election. He followed me to Port Harcourt and ran there.
“You are making excuses rather than telling your principal that this will be challenging for me.”

The governor, who has stated that he has never participated in any acts of political violence throughout his political career, has issued a warning to anyone considering tossing the state into anarchy.
Anyone who is familiar with me is aware that I have never used violence. I will not appear in court if I act violently.
However, we are aware of those who, while serving as government secretaries, planned murders in this State.
We are familiar with them, but the State will not allow another murder to take place.

We will not give you the chance to try it once more, he said.
Governor Wike clarified that Sekibo and his allies are resentful of him because he did not support their bid to win the PDP governorship ticket.
