The Rivers State Police Command has taken a significant step in its ongoing investigation into the murder of Divisional Police Officer (DPO) Gift David Okpara, also known as “2-Baba.
The police have officially released the photograph of the suspected leader of the cult gang believed to be responsible for the heinous crime.
This development follows the declaration of Gift David Okpara, also known as 2-Baba, as a wanted person by both the Inspector General of Police, Usman Akali Baba, and the state Governor, Siminalayi Fubara.
The decision to release the suspect’s image was made public by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, Grace Iringe-Koko.
In the photograph made available by the police, the wanted suspect is facing charges of conspiracy, involvement in cultism, and the murder of SP Bako Angbashim.
The Rivers State Police Command is urging members of the public to come forward with any information regarding the whereabouts of Okpara and other members of his gang. Those who provide valuable information leading to their apprehension will be eligible for rewards, as promised by the state Governor.
Governor Fubara had previously offered a substantial N100 million bounty for information that would aid in capturing Okpara and his accomplices.
SP Bako Angbashim met a tragic end at the hands of suspected cultists in the Ahoada East and West areas of Rivers State. The incident occurred last week Friday in Odiemude community, Ahoada East Local Government Area, where the suspects allegedly dismembered his body.
As the investigation continues, the Rivers State Police Command is determined to bring those responsible for this appalling crime to justice, and the release of the suspect’s photograph is a crucial step in their efforts.
