DSS withdraws personnel from Ademola Adeleke, Osun Gov’s convoy over clash with police
The removal of the security detail behind Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke was allegedly caused by a superiority complex between personnel of the Nigerian police and the Department of State Security.
Last week, the DSS headquarters withdrew its personnel from the Governor’s office and asked that he (the Governor) ensure strict adherence to security protocol.

Olawale Rasheed, the governor’s spokesperson, revealed in a statement on Sunday that the altercation started over a small misunderstanding between police and DSS personnel working on the governor’s security detail.
Findings showed that the DSS headquarters was unhappy with the way that police officers on the security detail insulted its employees and with the Governor’s refusal to address the situation.
The head of the DSS reported the situation to its command headquarters in Osogbo after learning that men from the police SIB were dressed as DSS employees and brought by the Governor’s Aide de Camp (ADC).
The command headquarters in Abuja ordered the withdrawal of its personnel on Thursday as a result of the situation’s persistence, pending the governor’s readiness to address it.
However, Olawale in the statement revealed that the problem is being resolved at the headquarters of the sister security agencies.

“The Osun State Government’s attention has been drawn to a report on the alleged withdrawal of DSS personnel from Governor Ademola Adeleke,” it continues.
“We want to make it clear that there was only a minor argument between police and Department of State Service personnel.
“The two security agencies’ corporate offices have been informed of the issue for resolution. The problem is being resolved.
“We reassure the public that there is nothing to worry about. Your Governor is completely safe, and governance is running smoothly.
