Federal Government Places Former Kogi Governor Yahaya Bello on Watchlist
The Federal Government has taken decisive action by placing Yahaya Bello, the immediate-past governor of Kogi State, on its watchlist. Security agencies across the country have been alerted, with the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) instructed to apprehend him at any entry or exit point.

This development was disclosed by the Comptroller General of Immigration Service, Kemi Nanna Nandap, in a memo addressed to the Director General of the Department of State Services (DSS), the Inspector General of Police, and the Director General of the National Intelligence Agency (NIA).
EFCC Obtains Warrant To Arrest Ex-Kogi Gov Yahaya Bello
The memo, signed by ACI DS Umar, included details of Bello’s international passport and highlighted the legal proceedings against him. It stated, “I am directed to inform you that the above-named person has been placed on the watchlist.” It further outlined the charges Bello faces, including Conspiracy, Breach of Trust, and Money Laundering, noting that he is currently being prosecuted before the Federal High Court Abuja.
In the event of Bello being sighted at any entry or exit point, security agencies have been instructed to arrest him and refer him to the Director of Investigation or contact specific phone numbers for further action.
This action follows the declaration of Yahaya Bello as wanted by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on Thursday, adding urgency to the government’s efforts to ensure accountability and uphold the rule of law.
