In response to a naira shortage in the state, protesters barricaded the Mowe area of the state on Friday.

The protest has now moved to Sagamu, where irate youths have sparked unrest and thrown the town into disarray.

Kayode Segun-Okeowo, a youth leader in the city, described the act as “motivated destruction and not a protest.”

This is not a demonstration. I am a comrade and am familiar with the ABCs of protest. It is intended on causing destruction. Those responsible must stop,” he said in a telephone interview with Daily Trust.

He also confirmed the arson of two commercial banks.
