First Lady Advocates Increased Participation in Agriculture.

 

In a bid to enhance Nigeria’s agricultural sector, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, the First Lady, urged citizens to actively engage in agricultural activities.

She emphasized the importance of agricultural interventions, particularly those spearheaded by her pet project, the Renewed Hope Initiative (RHI), aimed at complementing the efforts of President Bola Tinubu’s administration.

During a meeting with the United Nations (UN) Deputy Secretary-General Amina Mohammed, held at the State House in Abuja, Senator Tinubu underscored the significance of inspiring Nigerian youth to prioritize national interests over regional affiliations.

 

She highlighted initiatives like the #ONE NIGERIA/Unity Fabric, designed to encourage youth participation and foster a sense of national identity among them.

Addressing the issue of internally displaced persons (IDPs), Senator Tinubu reiterated the RHI’s commitment to supporting vulnerable populations through programs like the monthly Food Outreach Programme. Despite challenges, she expressed determination to continue serving the people and contributing to societal well-being.

In response, Mohammed commended the First Lady’s dedication to women empowerment and reproductive health, noting Nigeria’s progress in these areas. She urged increased government investment in youth, women, and girls, emphasizing the UN’s readiness to collaborate with Nigeria on various developmental initiatives.

As part of its engagement with Nigeria, the UN plans to implement the Solution Pathways program, aimed at supporting IDPs and vulnerable communities. Mohammed expressed optimism about collaborating with the First Lady on this and other initiatives geared towards fostering community development and empowerment.

Senator Tinubu’s call for greater involvement in agriculture aligns with ongoing efforts to boost food security and economic prosperity in Nigeria.
