Imo Labour Party Re-Open Sales Of Governorship Nomination Forms

There is tension in the Labour party in , over the sudden re opening of the Expression of Interest and Nomination Forms for governorship.

 

National Chairman of the party, Mr Julius Abure and the National Working Committee, NWC, are alleged to have re-opened the sale of the forms after closing the date of selling the forms, on the day the party’s presidential candidate, Mr. , met with all the governorship aspirants from Imo State in Abuja last week.

Ejes Gist News was told that the Labour party commenced the sale of the guber forms before the February 25 Presidential and National Assembly election, at a whopping price of N25m.

 

Despite the downward review of the fee from N25m to N10m after outcry by stakeholders, the NWC of the party led by the National Chairman suddenly re opened the sale of the forms.

Some concerned members of the party have expressed worry over the development, saying that the action of the National Chairman, is targeted at allowing moles, strange elements and agents of the ruling All Progressives Congress, , to infiltrate the party ahead of the November 11 governorship election.

 

Some stakeholders in the party had last week alleged that the State Governor, Senator Hope Uzodimma allegedly some persons in the Labour party to purchase the governorship forms.

Though there has been no independent verification of these allegations by this newspaper, some stakeholders argue the latest action of the Chairman is lending credence to such allegations.

 

“We have it on good authority that about eight governorship aspirants who bought the forms in the Labour party are actually working for the APC and from the State Governor” said one of the concerned stakeholders in the party who spoke on condition of anonymity.

 

He continued.”We know them and we have exposed them.Two other persons, whom we suspect are also moles recently picked the forms and in the long run, they will be exposed too”

Many stakeholders expressed concern on the policy direction of the party Chairman, which they argue, may spell doom for the party in the forthcoming governorship election in Imo State.
