Bandits Set Catholic cleric, Ablaze In Niger

During an early-morning attack on the Kafin Koro Community in the Paikoro Local Government Area of Niger State, bandits set Reverend Father Isaac Achi of the Saint Peter and Paul Catholic Church on fire, causing him to die.

The robbers entered the community at approximately one in the morning and began firing shots in a haphazard manner as they made their way to the apartment on the hilltop that belonged to the Reverend Father.

According to Paul, a resident of the area, the bandits dispersed into two separate groups.

While some of them went to the official residence of the Catholic priest, the others remained in the town and opened fire to ward off any potential interference that might come from outside.

According to Paul, the robbers decided to burn the house in order to dispose of the body of the deceased Achi because, after a considerable amount of time, they were unable to determine whether or not he was still inside.

It was reported that the Divisional Police Officer had been contacted, but he was unable to get to Achi before he passed away.
