INEC removes APC Majority Leader, Doguwa’s name from Reps-elect list after murder allegations
The name of the Majority Leader of the House of Representatives, Ado Doguwa, has been removed from the list of elected House of Representatives members by the Independent National Electoral Commission.
Recall that INEC had previously declared Doguwa, an All Progressives Congress member, the winner of the 25 February election in the Doguwa/Tudunwada constituency.
He received 39,732 votes to defeat Yushau Salisu Abdullahi of the New Nigeria People’s Party, who received 34,798 votes.
Doguwa was arrested for his alleged involvement in the recent election-related murders and burning of the New Nigeria People’s Party’s headquarters.
On Wednesday, a chief magistrates court in Kano remanded Doguwa to prison custody.
The name of Doguwa was removed from the list of elected members released by INEC, according to a check by Ejes Gist News Nigeria.
INEC stated that Doguwa’s election result was a “declaration made under duress.”
