In a remarkable and heartwarming turn of events, a newborn baby was discovered abandoned in Jigawa State, sparking a compassionate response from the local community.

The infant was found alive on a farm in Gwaram Local Government Area of Jigawa by a diligent farmer named Dubore while he was working on a Sunday morning. The baby, nestled inside a carton, was swiftly brought to the attention of the village head of Wurya in Gwaram Tsohuwa by Dubore.

Upon receiving the distressing news, the village head contacted Alhaji Tamaji Gwaram, the personal assistant to the Gwaram Local Government Chairman. Alhaji Tamaji Gwaram, in turn, coordinated efforts to ensure the baby’s welfare and safety.

The baby was immediately taken to the Divisional Police Officer of Gwaram local government for necessary actions. Thankfully, a medical examination at the hospital confirmed the baby’s good health.

Hon. Zaharaddeen Abubakar, the Chairman of Gwaram Local Government, took a compassionate step by arranging for the baby to be cared for. A woman named Rukayya Aliyu, residing in the vicinity, willingly accepted the responsibility of providing care for the newborn. Her husband, Malam Aminu Abdul-Hamid, the district head of Wurya, supported this noble decision.

In a touching gesture, the local government chairman, Zaharaddeen Abubakar, ordered that the baby be given a name. In a tribute to both the chairman and the caregiver, the child was named Zaharaddeen Aminu Gwaram.

Furthermore, to ensure the well-being of the caregiver and the baby, the local government chairman pledged to provide monthly financial assistance. This commitment underscores the local community’s dedication to supporting the infant’s upbringing and care.

Daily Trust reached out to the Jigawa State Police Command, and DSP Lawan Shiisu Adam confirmed the authenticity of the story. The police had entrusted the baby’s welfare to the local government chairman, who has demonstrated a commendable commitment to ensuring the child’s future.
