Nigerian Vice President of AFCON Optimistic About Super Eagles’ Trophy Prospects
In an exclusive interview with Arise Television on Monday, Amaju Pinnick, Vice President of the African Cup of Nations (AFCON) Organising Committee, expressed optimism about Nigeria’s chances in the ongoing tournament.
Pinnick, who is also deeply invested in the success of the Super Eagles, praised the team’s determination and resilience on the field, emphasizing their commitment to playing for Nigeria. He commended the synergy between himself, the president, and the minister in supporting the technical crew, aiming to reach a level that garners widespread appreciation.

Highlighting the team’s nationalistic spirit and impressive performance, especially in the recent game against Cameroon, Pinnick confidently stated, “If they continue the way they played the last game, I believe we will be smiling with the trophy.”
Acknowledging the efforts of the AFCON committee, Pinnick commended the total club licensing requirements implemented by the Confederation of African Football (CAF). He praised the well-maintained pitches and exceptional accommodation in Cote d’Ivoire, with a slight shortage noted in San Pedro, where the Moroccan team is stationed.
Expressing satisfaction with the quality of play, organizational standards, and the pitches, Pinnick thanked President Bola Tinubu for his support, acknowledging timely approvals that have contributed to the team’s journey.
