Death toll in Peru mudslides rises to 18

On Friday, Peruvian authorities reported that the death toll from mudslides in the country’s southern and central regions has risen to 18, including three children.

According to data from Peru’s National Institute of Civil Defense, the landslides that occurred last Sunday also left 27 people injured and 20 people missing.
The most recent fatality occurred early Friday morning in the central Andean region of Junin, where a rock and mudslide buried a vehicle, killing one and injuring two others, according to the institute.
