Alleged military rights violations: Irabor pledges to hand over indicted officers

The Nigerian military has assured the Special Independent Investigative Panel on Human Rights Violations in the Counterinsurgency Operators in the Northeast (SIIP-NE) of its willingness to cooperate.

It promised to make available any officers who might be required during the investigation.

5) Mr. Abubakar Malami, Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, has stated that the Federal Government will comply with the Supreme Court’s order for the Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN, to suspend its deadline for the use of the old N200, N500, and N1000 banknotes. Malami, who had filed a preliminary objection to challenge the supreme court’s order, stated that the government would comply with the order until it is overturned.

6) The National Security Adviser, NSA, Babagana Monguno, has stated that the shortage of naira and the cashless policy will impact military personnel deployed in remote areas. This was stated by Monguno on Thursday during a hearing organized by a House of Representatives ad hoc committee investigating currency redesign and naira swap policy.
