Senator Oluremi Tinubu, Nigeria’s first lady, has called on citizens to elevate their prayers, considering it as the primary weapon against the ongoing security challenges in the country. This plea follows the recent rescue of five sisters from the Al-Kadriyar family, who were kidnapped in the Bwari area of Abuja.
Taking to her X (formerly Twitter) handle on Monday, Senator Tinubu highlighted the significance of prayers in seeking divine intervention to address the rampant kidnappings orchestrated by terrorists, bandits, and other criminals nationwide.
“I rejoice with the Al-Kadriyar family, friends, and Nigerians in general for the safe return of the Al-Kadriyar sisters. Prayer works, and I want to thank all Nigerians, especially mothers, for praying for the safe return of the Al-Kadriyar sisters. Let us, however, not relent in our prayers,” the first lady expressed.
Senator Tinubu stressed that prayers should be regarded as Nigeria’s initial line of defense against insecurity, emphasizing that it should not be taken lightly. She urged citizens to intensify their prayers, believing that it is through this collective effort that the nation can overcome the current challenges.
While commending the security agencies for their efforts, Senator Tinubu called for a continuous commitment to combating insecurity in the nation.
This plea comes at a time when reports highlight the audacity of criminals, such as the incident where kidnappers overpowered policemen mobilized to rescue the Al-Kadriyar family.
