The Federal Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, led by Betta Edu, has announced that the long-awaited payment of backlogs for N-Power beneficiaries is set to commence soon.
The recovery of funds held by the consultant for several months has paved the way for the imminent disbursement.”
Mr Akindele, the National Program Manager of N-Power, shared this positive development after a meeting with representatives of N-Power beneficiaries.
He stated, “The good news is that the funds have been recovered yesterday, and you will be getting your money soon. Payment for N-Power Beneficiaries Batch C, who have been owed for eight months, will begin soon.”
The recovery of funds follows internal audits and investigations that aimed to address irregularities within the N-Power program. The Honourable Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, Dr Betta Edu, has been actively working to resolve issues affecting the program and other social investment initiatives.
These irregularities have made the common man lose faith in the ability of the Government to provide social safety cover for its population, but Dr Betta Edu is engaging all necessary steps to resolve these issues and deliver the Renewed Hope Mandate of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to Nigerians,” assured Mr Akindele.
The National Program Manager highlighted that various irregularities, including the non-payment of monthly allowances to beneficiaries and funds being held by an expired consultant, are being addressed. The recovered funds will enable the payment of beneficiaries who have been awaiting their allowances.
As the restructuring efforts continue, the National Program Manager called on young Nigerians to be patient, emphasizing that these changes are in their best interest. He expressed confidence that the Renewed Hope N-POWER initiative, with the commitment of President Tinubu, aims to expand and accommodate millions of young Nigerians.
“President Tinubu is committed to eradicating poverty, and he will deliver on it,” he added.
This announcement brings relief to N-Power beneficiaries who have been eagerly awaiting the resolution of payment issues, and it reflects the government’s dedication to addressing challenges within the social investment programs.
