Ohanaeze Ndigbo Condemns Abuja Protests, Defends Minister Nyesom Wike
Ohanaeze Ndigbo, the foremost Igbo socio-cultural organization, in a resolute stance has denounced the recent protests in Abuja targeting Minister Nyesom Wike, attributing them to the machinations of opposing political factions.
Mazi Okechukwu Isiguzoro, the Secretary General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo, issued a statement urging the opposition to desist from obstructing Minister Wike’s duties with politically motivated demonstrations.
Isiguzoro accused an opposition Governor and Presidential candidate of orchestrating the protests on December 6, 2023, as a ploy to score political points and divert attention from Wike’s crucial role in Tinubu’s administration.
Highlighting Wike’s significance within the Igbo ethnic group due to his Ikwerre origin, Isiguzoro asserted Ohanaeze Ndigbo’s unwavering support for their own.
The organization appealed to President Tinubu to dismiss the opposition’s disruptive efforts and reaffirmed their belief in his leadership.
Isiguzoro emphasized President Tinubu’s seasoned leadership, describing him as an experienced statesman and father of the nation.
Ohanaeze Ndigbo stressed the need to steer clear of ethno-religious sentiments in national development discussions, advocating for a focus on competence and the ability to deliver infrastructural and economic progress in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
According to Isiguzoro, Minister Nyesom Wike track record underscores his competence for the task at hand.
