The embattled Deputy Governor of Ondo State, Aiyedatiwa, has reportedly been instructed to sign an undated resignation letter and submitted to Tinubu.

In the aftermath of the recent political crisis in Ondo State, Speaker of the Ondo State House of Assembly, Olamide Oladiji, has confirmed the resolutions reached, shedding light on the signing of an undated resignation letter by Deputy Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa. The agreement, forged after a meeting with President Bola Tinubu, outlines conditions that could trigger the activation of the resignation letter if contravened.

During the first plenary session held after the Abuja meeting, Speaker Oladiji clarified that there was no resolution stipulating Aiyedatiwa as the acting governor. The status quo, according to Oladiji, would be maintained. The Speaker, the Secretary to the State Government (SSG) Oladunni Odu, and State Chairman of the party, Ade Adetimehin, are tasked with ensuring full compliance with the resolutions.

Deputy Governor Aiyedatiwa is to remain in his role, accompanied by the requirement to submit an undated letter of resignation to the President.

The enforcement of these resolutions is entrusted to three individuals, including the State Chairman of the APC, Engr. Ade Adetimehin, Speaker Oladiji Olamide, and the Secretary to the Ondo State Government, Princess Oladunni Odu. These enforcers are appointed to monitor compliance with the ongoing resolutions.

Speaker Oladiji issued a stern warning to politicians, urging them to refrain from exacerbating the political situation in the state. He emphasized that the House of Assembly would not hesitate to employ the full weight of the law against those who instigate political unrest for personal gain.
