In September 2021, he underwent surgery to remove the tumor and spent a month in the hospital.

Pele had one of the most legendary careers in sports, scoring more than 1,000 goals before retiring in 1977. He is the only player in history to win three World Cups (1958, 1962, and 1970).

His public appearances have become increasingly infrequent, but he maintains an active social media presence, recently urging the Brazilian national team to “bring this trophy home” from the World Cup in Qatar.

Current Brazilian international Alex Telles stated at a conference in Doha that the team hopes Pele recovers quickly.
