“In 2019, I was recruited into the Navy.” Prior to my assignment in Warri, Delta State, I worked in Lokoja, Kogi State. When I attended a course in Sapele, I devised the plan to steal a vehicle, he explained.

“After completing my course, Abdulwahab visited me and inquired about my future plans. I assured him that we would make money, and he agreed to join me. We chattered a tricycle from Warri to Sapele for the purpose of the operation.

“In Sapele, we observed a vehicle without a licence plate; we asked the driver to pull over, but he refused.” We pursued him until he finally stopped in a village. And I informed him that we would be taking him to our office because he was driving an unregistered vehicle. He pleaded with us to resolve the matter there, but we refused.

“I took over the steering from him and began driving, but when we reached Oghara Road, he offered us money to settle the matter. I told him to pay N500,000, but he paid N400,000 to a Point of Sale account that I gave him, which was then transferred to me. We were driving to Abuja to sell the car when we were stopped by the police.”
