Barely Weeks to General Elections Police Station Bombed, Officers Killed In Fresh Anambra Attack

The bombing of the Ogidi Police Station in the Idemili North Local Government Area of Anambra State resulted in the deaths of three police officers.

The attack took place  Saturday morning according to sources.

Tochukwu Ikenga, the state’s Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), confirmed the incident and stated that additional security personnel had been dispatched to the area.

Ikenga stated, “The Anambra State Police Command has bolstered security in the Idemili North region of the state in response to the attack on the Ogidi area command early this morning (Saturday, 18/2/2023), in which three police officers paid the ultimate price.”

“As the thugs approached the area command, they began firing erratically and threw IEDs and petrol bombs to gain entry. Unfortunately, the police facility’s buildings were affected.

“However, the Command observed with grave concern the loss of life and property as a result of this attack, and has issued a call for calm as the police are determined to deny these criminal elements the space they need to carry out their evil deeds and increase the security of life and property in the state.”
